Strong winds are forcasted from the west, with a little bit of south in them. A forecast we’ve all been waiting for. A forecast that could light up our little point break on the island.

I had to pick up some softtops in Harlingen in the morning, but I expected the waves to biggest at the end of the day after a whole day of strong winds. When I got back at the island at the end of the day the tide had dropped enough for Prullies (the spot) to be firing.

At 16:30 me and Julie walked up the dune to do a surfcheck. I screamed when I saw the first set roll in. It was on! Just like it was exactly one year ago when we had a westerly swell like this one which gave us amazing waves as you can see in this video:

Me and Julie raced back to the camp to get our gear. My back injury is still bugging me so I grabbed my camera.. Five minutes later I’m in the water. I watch joyfully as I whitness some of the longest waves ever ridden in the Netherlands come through. Vlieland delivers. It has been a difficult summer so far, Corona wise. We all deserved a little break and this is what we got treated to:
